Prof. Dr. Alaa M. Shaban is an Associate Professor in the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Kerbala. He earned his Ph.D. from Florida Institute of Technology in 2016, specializing in geotechnical engineering with a focus on in-situ testing using the Miniaturized Pressuremeter Test (MPMT) for evaluating unbound pavement layers and foundation design.

His research covers foundation engineering, geotechnical measurements and explorations, pavement design and testing, and concrete properties. He has published numerous papers in international journals including ASTM, Springer, and Transportation Research Board, with over 243 scholarly citations.
